The Christmas Tree Farm | Nesbitt, MS

I’m starting to smell the flurries…Ok, who am I kidding, there are no Christmas snow flurries in Mississippi. Since moving down South, this Northwest family has tried to hold on to as many of our up-North traditions as possible. We were so excited to share our tradition of cutting down the Christmas tree with our dear friends, the Nolands. Cedar Hill Farms is one of the few places around us that has trees ready to pick out and cut down yourself. And they pretty much rock the playground scene as well with slides and zip lines and swings. Hard to get these kids away from it. We have loved being able to introduce our boys to the magic of wandering the endless rows of uniform trees looking for just the perfect one to take home. Albeit, I think the southern variety of tree grown is more bush than tree but we’ve learned to embrace the bushiness. Also, you may notice no sign of my oldest boy in these photos…he was literally running through the trees the entire time we were there. He never stopped moving thus I never quite snapped a shot of him. Such is my life with that child.

I’m so thankful I get to capture memories such as these for friends. Memories made with the ones you love are the most beautiful to capture. I love seeing my husband be a father, protecting and comforting our sweet boy from the cold. I love images showing the adventure of experiencing something new with friends that our friends’ daughter exudes in her every smile. Documentary family photography is wonderful for adventures and memories such as this. It’s what I love to capture and share with others.
